Matcincang Mountain - Raya Mountain - Gondwana Mountains Matcincang MountainThe peak is reachable via cable car station at the Oriental Village. This 15 minutes journey up is definitely not for the weak-hearted but the scenery below that show off the 4,167 ha of virgin jungle of the Matcincang Mountain Forest Reserve is a feast for the eyes. The suspended bridge at 700 meters above sea level spans 125 meters across a scary chasm on top of the mountain.  
For the adventurous ones, there is 2.5 kms hiking track linking Seven Wells (Telaga Tujuh) to the middle and top stations. One can observed first hand many species of flora from lowland to highland types, typical only to this forest reserve and see numerous geological marvels along the route.

Gunung Raya/Raya Mountain The highest mountain peak on the island measuring about 870 meters above sea level. Take a drive up to where the weather is expectedly cooler and the view, panoramic sights of Langkawi and its surrounding islands.

Gondwana Mountain  It is situated to the South-western region of Langkawi, the mountain area behind Burau Bay from Datai Bay to Buta Bay, the formation is simply fascinating and differ from other landscapes in Langkawi. Standing tall near Buta Bay, Matcincang Mountain which contains different types of rocks covers a big portion of Gondwana Mountains. The steepness of the mountain area shows how great the tectonic pressure can be. Top |
