Kuah Town

Kuah is located on the south-eastern tip of Langkawi and is the island's main town with Kuah Jetty being the take-off point to the neighbouring islands.

The name in Malay word means "gravy" and is associated with an ancient legend of two battling giants that overturned a pot of curry at the spot where the town now stands.

Once a small fishing village, it is now full of shops, outlets, restaurants, and commercial districts. Most are opened after 10 am and closed at 8 pm. There is no nice beaches here nor any night clubs whatsoever, however along the riverbanks there are some few seafood restaurants in the evening with descent rates and quality. The one and only cineplex here is located at the Langkawi Parade formerly known as Teow Soon Huat.
