Situated on the front left of the new Jetty Mall Complex, this 19-acres park is the most prominent landmark for those arriving by the sea. The square's main attraction is the magnificent statue - 12 meters height of the reddish brown eagle majestically poised in flight. The square is beautifully landscaped and its close proximity to the sea affords soft breeze that makes it an ideal spot for leisurely walks and a tranquil setting for dining in the evening. At night, the square is beautifully lit.
If the old days mariner would be guided by the grey hulk of Raya Mountain to helo guide them to Kuah Harbour, today it is the great eagle that has taken its place. The 12 meters statue sits high at the centers of a massive star-shaped concrete platform that just out to the sea. The square comprises the statue, a high-roofed pavillion where events are held and kiosk selling anything from titbits to souvenirs. During the afternoon it can be unbearably hot as the midday heat is reflected from the concrete floor. The best time to enjoy this place is during early evening and night when all the heat has dissipated. Opposite the Eagle Square is a lake with a fountain and beyond it s a row of foodstalls serving local, chinese and western cuisine. One of the stall is reputed to be the tastiest version of laksa kedah (white rice noodle in thick fish gravy with prawn paste served with mint leaves). A wooden walkway traverses the lake.
